A 23-year-old has been slapped with a two-year ban after ploughing his BMW into multiple cars on the M4—while four times over the drink-drive limit.
Blinding Darkness and Disaster
Kyran George of Hackney was spotted driving without lights down the motorway on the evening of September 30. Around 8.15pm, his reckless spree ended in a multi-vehicle crash. After hitting three cars and a Land Rover, he spun off the road and came to rest on the verge.
Four Times Over the Limit
Paramedics checked George at the scene, where he blew a roadside breath test and was arrested. At custody, tests revealed he had consumed four times the legal alcohol limit.
Judge Slaps Heavy Penalties
At Swindon Magistrates Court on October 21, George pleaded guilty. Besides losing his driving licence for two years, he must pay a £114 surcharge and £85 in court costs.
“Driving with four times the legal limit is disgraceful,” said PC Paul Davis of the Roads Policing Unit. “George’s selfishness could have caused tragedy. Thankfully no one was seriously hurt.”
