A man has died after reportedly suffering a medical episode behind the wheel in central Swindon, sparking a major emergency response.
Skoda Crashes, Flips on Station Road
Emergency services rushed to Station Road at around 10.30pm on Friday, 21 November, following reports of a single-vehicle crash. The Skoda smashed into a fence before overturning, causing chaos and prompting fire crews and ambulances to swarm the scene.
Driver Dies at the Scene
The 52-year-old driver was treated on-site by paramedics but was pronounced dead shortly afterwards. It’s reported that the man suffered a medical emergency while driving, which led to the devastating collision.
Road Closure and Official Statement
Station Road was closed for several hours as emergency and council crews worked to clear the wreckage and repair damaged street furniture. Wiltshire Police confirmed the tragedy but stressed there’s no suspicion surrounding the crash.
“Our thoughts are with the man’s family at this difficult time,” a police spokesperson said. “The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and Station Road has now reopened.”
