Man detained by armed police on the Isle of Wight
A man has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause harm or fear of at an incident in Sandown on the Isle of Wight last night (Thursday). Reports were received by Police of a man in possession of a weapon who had threatened to harm another. Armed police descended onto Leed Street, Sandown and carried out a highly visible search. Police attended a property where a man was later to be found in possession of an air rifle. A spokesperson has confirmed in a statement that a 59-year-old man was arrested and he remains in Police custody at this time.
