After being refused entry to Canada, a suspected burglar has been detained at Heathrow airport and arrested in connection with a Sevenoaks break-in.

Just before 7.30pm on Thursday 8 February 2024, emergency call handlers received a report of three masked men leaving a property near St John’s Hill.

The suspects allegedly left the scene by foot before officers’ arrival.

On Tuesday 21 May, a man was refused entry to Canada and arrested upon his return to the UK, for suspected involvement in the break-in.

Leonardo Valesquez-Valencia, of no fixed address, was later charged for ten counts of burglary relating to incidents across seven counties, including Kent, Essex, London, Surrey, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, and Wiltshire.

The 37-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday 24 May.

He has since been remanded in custody pending a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday 21 June.
