A man will appear in court this morning charged with the murder of Billy Keegan in Ilford.
Muhamed Nur Osman, 30, of Knight Close, Dagenham, is due to appear on Monday, 7 October, at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court. He is charged with murder and assault causing actual bodily harm (ABH).
Police were called at around 01:05 on Friday, 4 October, to reports of a stabbing on Chapel Road, Ilford. Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene and found 50-year-old Billy Keegan suffering from a stab injury in the corridor of a block of flats. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, Keegan was pronounced dead at 01:30.
The investigation is being led by detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command.
Three men were initially arrested on suspicion of murder but were later released with no further action. Osman was subsequently arrested on Saturday, 5 October, and charged with the crime.
