A man has been charged with the murder of Tomasz Samel, six years after the shocking kidnapping that ended in tragedy. West Midlands Police confirmed the news today, revealing fresh arrests in the long-running investigation.
Kidnapped from Handsworth Home, Tomasz Fought for Life
Tomasz Samel, 45, was snatched from his home on Raleigh Close, Handsworth, in a white van at around 8.45am. Later that night, at 10.45pm, Tomasz desperately sought help, banging on a door in Bickerstaffe, Lancashire.
Suffering horrific burns covering 75% of his body, he was rushed to hospital. Despite treatment in a specialist burns unit in Liverpool, Tomasz sadly died on 21 June 2019.
Two Liverpool Residents Charged Over Kidnapping and Murder
Police have charged Tobiasz Kozlowski, 38, with murder, conspiracy to kidnap, false imprisonment, and causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Kozlowski appeared at Birmingham Magistrates on 26 September and was remanded in custody. He is due back at Birmingham Crown Court on 24 October.
Sandra Kozlowska, 37, also from Liverpool, has been charged with assisting an offender and will appear at court on the same day.
Investigation Continues – Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Detective Chief Superintendent Scott Griffiths said: “We have not stopped in our pursuit of justice for Tomasz and his loved ones, and today is a significant step forward in our investigation.
But our work continues, and we would urge anyone with information who has not already spoken to us to please get in touch.”
