Metropolitan Police have charged a man with murder following the death of a 20-year-old man who was found with stab injuries in Farringdon on Friday, October 18.
Incident Details
Police were called to Back Hill, Farringdon, at approximately 9:36 pm on Friday following reports of a moped colliding with a wall. Officers and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service attended the scene. While medics treated the victim for injuries sustained in the collision, they discovered that he had also been stabbed.
The man was transported to the hospital but, despite medical efforts, he sadly died of his injuries on Monday, October 21. Specialist officers are supporting the victim’s family, and authorities are awaiting confirmation that all family members have been informed before releasing the victim’s name.
Suspect Charged
Oguzcan Dereli, 26, of Islington, was arrested on Sunday, October 20, and charged with murder the following day. He is scheduled to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 22.
Police Statement
Superintendent Jack Rowlands, one of the senior officers overseeing policing in Camden, expressed condolences to the victim’s loved ones: “A young man has tragically died in this incident, and our thoughts go out to the victim’s friends and family at this terribly sad time. We made a quick arrest and have been able to bring murder charges against the suspect as we accelerate this investigation following the untimely death of the victim.

He added, “We understand a close-knit community is in shock, but we are determined to bring justice for the victim’s loved ones and continue to support the local neighbourhood as best as we can during this difficult time.”
