Man charged with attempted murder of a GMP officer in Trafford

Charges have been authorised following an incident at the weekend where one of our officers was targeted after responding to an incident.

Kyle Woods of Wendover Road, Urmston has been charged with attempted murder and dangerous driving.

He was remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on Wednesday 8 May 2024.

These charges are a result of an investigation by local detectives following an incident on Sunday 5 May 2024 in the evening, when one of our officers attended a domestic incident on Beech Road in Sale. He was subsequently hit by a van and suffered a fractured tibia and is thankfully currently recovering from the injuries sustained.

Chief Superintendent Colette Rose of our Trafford district said; “On behalf of our officers, we’d like to thank the local community for their concern and well wishes to our injured colleague.

“Every day our officers respond to incidents with the aim of helping the public and keeping them safe and do not expect or deserve to be targeted in this way.”
