Man Charged with Assault, Theft, and Criminal Damage in Belper Town Centre Incident
Man Arrested In Belper After Reports Of Damage And Assault On King Street

A man has been charged in connection with an incident that occurred in Belper town centre on Saturday, September 16.

Around 10.00 on that day, officers responded to reports of an assault on King Street in the town. Subsequent investigations revealed two additional reports of alleged assaults, a theft, and criminal damage within nearby business premises.

The charged individual is identified as Darren Lakin, aged 30, residing at Bridge Street in Belper. Lakin faces a range of charges, including wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, assault, criminal damage, and theft. He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, September 18.

During the incident, a victim sustained injuries and was subsequently hospitalised. However, the victim has since been discharged from the hospital and is now receiving support from law enforcement officers.
