Man Charged with Arson Over Fires at Homes and Car Linked to Prime Minister Keir Starmer

A 21-year-old man has been charged with three counts of arson with intent to endanger life following a string of fires at properties and a vehicle linked to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.

Arson Attacks on PM-Linked Addresses

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Roman Lavrynovych, a Ukrainian national from Sydenham, southeast London, was arrested in connection with three separate incidents:

  • A house fire in Kentish Town, north London, where Sir Keir previously lived with his family.
  • A second fire at a property in Islington, also linked to the Prime Minister, reported less than 24 hours earlier.
  • A vehicle blaze on the same Kentish Town street early Thursday morning.

Lavrynovych is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

Ongoing Investigation

The Met’s Counter Terrorism Command is not believed to be involved at this stage. However, senior detectives are treating the case as high priority due to the clear links to a serving Prime Minister.

There have been no reported injuries, but all incidents are being treated as arson with intent to endanger life, a serious offence under the Criminal Damage Act 1971.

Met Police Statement

A spokesperson for the Met said:

“A 21-year-old man has been charged following a series of arson incidents at residential addresses and a vehicle in north London. All three locations have links to the Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer. While investigations remain ongoing, there is no wider threat to the public at this time.”

Political and Security Implications

The incidents have prompted heightened concern about the security of public officials, particularly those in high office. Downing Street has declined to comment while the legal process continues, though it is understood that extra security assessments are being carried out at known addresses linked to the Prime Minister.
