Man Charged With 2017 South London 'strangle Killing'

In a significant development, a 33-year-old man, Briken Kola, has been charged with the manslaughter of Piotr Woroniecki, a 32-year-old who was tragically found dead in Clapham six years ago. This long-awaited charge comes following extensive investigations into the case.

Piotr Woroniecki, a Polish national, was discovered lifeless on Parma Crescent in Clapham on November 23, 2017. A subsequent post-mortem examination revealed that the cause of death was “compression to the neck,” indicating a severe injury consistent with prolonged strangulation.

Metropolitan Police have stated that this particular injury aligns with the victim being held in a headlock for an extended period, shedding light on the nature of the incident.

Briken Kola, of MacGregor Road in West Beckton, now faces charges that include manslaughter, conspiring to commit a burglary, and conspiring to rob Mr. Woroniecki. Kola appeared before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, November 7, where the case was subsequently sent to the Old Bailey for further proceedings. During his appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, no pleas were entered, and the case is set to progress in the higher court.
