ARSON CHARGES Man Charged Over Early Morning Arson Spree in Northaw

Police have arrested and charged a man after a blaze tore through three parked cars and damaged a front door in #Northaw.

Fire Erupts at 1.20am, No Injuries

Shortly after 1.20am on Monday, 13 October, emergency services rushed to Coopers Lane Road following reports of a fire engulfing three parked vehicles. The flames also caused damage to a nearby property’s front door. Firefighters swiftly quelled the blaze, and thankfully, nobody was hurt.

Accused to Face Crown Court

Abdul Miah, 32, from Leyton Road, London, now faces charges of arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered, plus possession of an offensive weapon. He appeared at Hatfield Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 23 October, where he was remanded in custody. Miah is due back at St Albans Crown Court on Thursday, 20 November.

Detective Praises Team’s Efforts

Detective Inspector Michael Ball, leading the investigation, said: “I’d like to thank the team’s diligence and hard work in securing a charging decision.

The fire was brought under control and thankfully no injuries were reported.

The case will now progress through the courts.”
