Man Charged Following Tragic Collision in Newcastle

A 22-year-old man has been charged in connection with a fatal collision that occurred on West Denton Way in Newcastle. The incident, which took place on October 15 last year, involved a grey BMW car colliding with a bus stop where several people were standing.

Tragically, 19-year-old Joe Scott, a resident of Blakelaw in Newcastle, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene despite the efforts of emergency services and paramedics. Our heartfelt thoughts go out to Joe’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Two women who were also at the bus stop during the collision were injured. One suffered serious injuries, while the other sustained non-serious injuries. Both were later discharged from the hospital.

The investigation into the collision was promptly launched, leading to the charges against the 22-year-old driver. He faces multiple charges, including death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road accident, driving while above the legal limit for drugs, and driving without insurance.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court later this month
