Man Charged After Knife Incident in Shoreham

A man has been charged following a serious incident in Shoreham on the night of 18 October.

Sussex Police were called to Kingsland Close at approximately 11:25 pm after receiving reports of a man behaving erratically and wielding a knife in public. Officers responded swiftly, detaining the individual on the scene before transferring him to a hospital for assessment.

Following his discharge from the hospital the next day, the man, identified as David Chiswell, 36, of Kingsland Close, was arrested. He has since been charged with affray and possession of a knife in a public place.

Chiswell appeared before Crawley Magistrates’ Court on 21 October, where he was remanded in custody. He is scheduled to appear in court again on 8 November, pending further legal proceedings.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, with authorities assuring the public that they are treating the matter seriously.
