Man Arrested in Connection with Murder of Suffolk Grandmother Anita Rose

A 55-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the fatal attack of a woman walking her dog in Brantham, Suffolk. The arrest was made in Ipswich, and the suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.

Tragic Incident

Anita Rose, 57, a mother-of-six, left her home early on the morning of July 24 to walk her springer spaniel, Bruce. She was discovered unconscious with severe head injuries on a track road near Rectory Lane, close to the sewage works and railway line, at approximately 6:25 am by a passing cyclist.

Despite emergency medical attention and being transported to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, Ms. Rose tragically died four days later.

Police Investigation

Suffolk Police have been actively investigating the case as murder. New CCTV footage released shows Ms. Rose an hour before the attack, in an attempt to gather further information and witnesses. Officers are urging anyone who may have been in the area or seen anything suspicious to come forward.

A spokesperson for Suffolk Police stated: “We are continuing our inquiries and are grateful for the public’s support. Specialist officers are providing assistance to Ms. Rose’s family, who are being kept informed of developments in the investigation.

Crimestoppers Reward

Crimestoppers has offered a £20,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in the death of Anita Rose. They encourage anyone with information to contact them anonymously.

Appeal for Information

Suffolk Police are appealing for anyone who may have information related to the attack or who may have been in the Brantham area early on the morning of July 24 to come forward. Officers have also cordoned off two new areas of interest as part of their investigation.

Ms. Rose’s dog, Bruce, was unharmed in the incident and was found still with her when she was discovered.
