A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of 42-year-old Sheldon Jameson in Doncaster earlier this week. Jameson was discovered with severe injuries in an alleyway between Apley Road and Whitburn Road in the Hyde Park area on Thursday morning, September 19. He was rushed to the hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries.
The South Yorkshire Police launched an investigation immediately after Jameson’s death. The suspect, whose name has not yet been released, remains in police custody as inquiries continue.
In a related development, a 47-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. She has since been released on police bail but remains under investigation.
Police had earlier cordoned off the crime scene between Apley Road and Whitburn Road while investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. The area has since been reopened.
Authorities are urging the public to submit any information related to the investigation through the Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP) established specifically for this case. Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crimestoppers via their freephone number or through their online form.
As the investigation progresses, South Yorkshire Police continue to appeal for any witnesses or individuals with information to come forward.
