Man Arrested for Assault in Hastings: Witnesses Sought

In a recent incident in Hastings Town Centre, Patrick Doran, a 41-year-old man residing at Robertson Terrace, Hastings, has been taken into custody on charges of assaulting and sexually assaulting a woman.

The incident, which occurred on Robertson Street at approximately 5.25 pm on Wednesday, January 17, was initially reported as an altercation between a man and a woman. When the police arrived, they found the woman victimised by assault, while the suspect had fled the area. The woman also reported a sexual assault by the same man.

A thorough search of the surrounding area led to the arrest of Doran. He was subsequently charged with assault and sexual assault by touching.

Doran appeared before Hastings Magistrates’ Court on January 20, where he was remanded in custody. His next court appearance is set for February 16 at Lewes Crown Court, where he will answer to the charges.

In the meantime, Sussex Police are actively seeking assistance from the public. They are calling for witnesses or anyone in possession of relevant CCTV, dashcam, or mobile phone footage of the incident to come forward. Those with information are urged to contact Sussex Police either through their online platform or by calling 101, referencing case number 929 of 17/01.
