Police were called to The Heathway in Dagenham at around 8:56 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, following reports of two assaults. The incident began inside the Tesco Express store, where a suspect threw food at a member of the public, assaulting them.
After leaving the store, the suspect then seriously assaulted a second victim, a woman, who was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A 28-year-old man from Romford was arrested on suspicion of Section 20 Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH). While in custody, the man also assaulted an officer, leading to further arrests on suspicion of two counts of racially aggravated harassment and assault of an emergency worker.
The suspect remains in custody as the investigation continues. Authorities are appealing for any witnesses to come forward with information about the incident.
