Man Arrested After Robbery At Somerset Food Bank

A man in his 30s has been apprehended in connection with the robbery that targeted the Martock Christian Fellowship food bank in Somerset. This incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, resulting in the theft of hundreds of pounds’ worth of essential items meant to support the local community.

CCTV footage captured the audacious thieves making three separate visits to the food bank during their raid, causing significant losses to the charity. Among the stolen items were high-value essentials such as nappies, tinned meals, tinned meat, and pet food. These items were part of the charity’s stockpile intended to assist families during the upcoming festive season.

The Transforming Lives food bank, located on Church Street, Somerset, plays a crucial role in supporting the community by providing for up to 50 adults and 30 children. The theft of these essential supplies represents not only a significant financial setback for the charity but also a disruption to their mission of helping those in need.

Avon and Somerset Police have taken swift action, arresting a suspect in Martock. The individual remains in police custody as the investigation continues to unfold.
