A man has been arrested in Croydon after police responded to reports of a person seen with a knife in broad daylight.
The Metropolitan Police were called to Whitestone Way at 1:42pm on Wednesday following reports of a man carrying a bladed weapon in the area.

Officers arrived swiftly and arrested a suspect within ten minutes of the initial call. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and has since been taken into custody, where he remains.

A spokesperson for the Met Police said:
“At 13:42hrs on Wednesday, 16 April, police were called to Whitestone Way, Croydon following reports of a man in possession of a knife. Officers attended and arrested a man within ten minutes. He remains in custody.”
There were no reported injuries and police have confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
