In a tragic case that has shocked the community, a man has appeared in court accused of assisting an alleged killer after a Bexley mother was fatally stabbed.

Leila Young, aged 33, was discovered injured on Penhill Road just after 4 p.m. on January 16. Despite being rushed to the hospital in a critical condition, she tragically succumbed to her injuries on the evening of January 23.

Her partner, Tony Curant, also aged 33 and residing on Penhill Road, was arrested on January 20, before Ms. Young’s passing. He stands accused of fatally stabbing her in the neck and head, leading to her untimely demise.

On Thursday, February 15, Richard Ray, aged 33, hailing from St George’s Road in Swanley, appeared at Woolwich Crown Court. Ray faces charges of assisting an offender, allegedly aiding Curant in his actions and concealing evidence, notably three mobile phones.

Ray made his appearance in court via videolink from HMP Belmarsh, donning a yellow jacket, and spoke only to confirm his name during the brief hearing. It was revealed that both Ray and Curant will be required to enter pleas at a hearing scheduled for April.
