An 18-year-old man has appeared in court charged with manslaughter after a woman died following a fall from a block of flats in Southampton.
Tia Langdon, 25, was discovered with serious injuries outside a property in Cuckmere Lane shortly before 2.45pm on Thursday, 28 August. Despite emergency treatment, she died in hospital the following day.
Charges laid
Jaiden Hassan-Agard, 18, of Stour Close, Southampton, faces multiple charges in connection with the incident, including:
- Manslaughter
- Threats to kill
- False imprisonment
- Threatening with an offensive weapon in a private place (against Ms Langdon and another woman present at the flat)
- Kidnap relating to the second woman
Hassan-Agard appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (3 September) and was remanded in custody. He is due to appear at Southampton Crown Court on 29 September.
Police investigation
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed that three people — Ms Langdon, Mr Hassan-Agard, and another woman — had been inside the flat prior to the fall. Detectives from the Major Crime Unit continue to investigate the circumstances.
Community reaction
Floral tributes have been laid at the entrance to the block of flats in memory of Ms Langdon, who was from Southampton. She has been described as a young woman with bright green/blue hair and a “bubbly personality”.
