A significant search operation is underway at London Bridge following reports of a child entering the River Thames just before 7 pm on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

The London Coastguard is coordinating efforts alongside the Metropolitan Police Marine Unit, the City of London Police, the London Fire Brigade, and other emergency services.

A  representative of City of London Police who are leading the operation, confirmed the incident and said that multiple agencies are involved in the search. They added that further details will be released as the operation progresses.

The Metropolitan Police have deferred to the City of London Police, acknowledging their role as the primary authority managing the ongoing search. The operation has drawn significant resources, with boats, divers, and crews conducting a thorough sweep of the area.

Emergency services were alerted to the situation shortly after the initial reports were made. Witnesses at the scene described a heavy emergency response, with flashing lights and rescue crews converging on the iconic bridge.
