Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters are tackling a large house fire on Gresham Drive, Chadwell Heath, this evening.
The first floor and roof of a semi-detached property are alight, with thick smoke visible from surrounding streets.
London Fire Brigade said control officers received the first of 25 emergency calls at 6:21pm, prompting crews from Romford, Hornchurch, and Ilford fire stations to be mobilised to the scene.
Firefighters are working to bring the blaze under control, while residents have been urged to avoid the area to allow emergency services to operate safely.
The cause of the fire is not yet known and an investigation will be launched once the incident is over.
