Families Lose Everything in Overnight Fire on Launceston Outskirts
A devastating house fire in Launceston has destroyed multiple homes, triggering a massive emergency response from fire crews across Cornwall and Devon in the early hours of Saturday, 11 May 2025.
At 1:48am, both appliances from Launceston Community Fire Station were mobilised following reports of a residential blaze. Upon arrival, firefighters escalated the situation to a make pumps 4 incident, prompting assistance from Delabole and Bodmin fire crews.

Shortly after, the incident was further escalated to make pumps 6, with Liskeard and Holsworthy crews called in, along with an Aerial Ladder Platform from Crownhill, BA support from St Austell, and a water carrier from Liskeard.
Firefighters Praise Public Support – Residents Safe but Homes Lost
Emergency services confirmed that although the properties were completely gutted by the flames, all residents are safe and accounted for.

“This was a major incident with a huge emergency response,” Launceston Fire Station said in a statement. “A devastating outcome for the occupants of the properties who have lost all their belongings, but most importantly, everyone is safe.”
Padstow Community Fire Station will remain on site throughout the day to monitor hotspots and dampen down the affected area.

Locals are rallying around the affected families, with urgent appeals for clothing and essentials:
