M25 Road Closures After Fatal Collision Between Lorry and Pedestrians on Hard Shoulder

Road closures remain in place on the M25 clockwise between Junctions 29 and 30 today (September 8) after a fatal crash involving a lorry and pedestrians. Police and paramedics were called to the scene at approximately 3:56 AM following reports of a collision.

Metropolitan Police have confirmed that the crash involved pedestrians who were standing on the hard shoulder of the motorway when they were struck by the lorry. Two men were treated at the scene, but tragically, one man died despite the best efforts of paramedics. Another man was taken to hospital for further treatment.

The incident prompted the closure of all four lanes on the M25 clockwise between the two junctions as investigations continue. Metropolitan Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has dashcam footage of the area at the time to contact police on 101, quoting CAD 1299/08SEP.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Officers attended along with London Ambulance Service paramedics and treated two men. Despite their best efforts, one of the men – no further details – died at the scene. Road closures are in place as police carry out enquiries. No arrests have been made.”

London Ambulance Service also issued a statement confirming they sent ambulance crews, an advanced paramedic, and an incident response officer to the scene. While one patient died, two other individuals were treated and discharged at the scene.

As the investigation continues, road users are advised to avoid the area, and significant delays are expected until the closures are lifted later today.
