M25 Dartford Crossing Chaos as Overturned Van Blocks Motorway

Overview

 

Motorists are facing severe delays on the M25 near the Dartford Crossing this afternoon after an overturned van blocked the motorway.

The incident occurred on the clockwise carriageway near junction 1B for the A282 (Dartford) just before 2pm.

Traffic brought to a standstill

All traffic was stopped following the crash, which involved a car and a van. Kent Police confirmed that they were called at 1.51pm and that no injuries were reported.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said:

“Patrols and highways officers attended the scene where no injuries were reported. Highways officers remain at the scene arranging recovery of the vehicles.”

Long delays reported

Congestion has stretched back across the QEII Bridge and as far as junction 29 for Romford and junction 30 for Lakeside/Tilbury, according to traffic monitoring site Inrix.

Highways England and emergency services remain on the scene as recovery work continues.
