M20 in Kent Closed During Rush Hour Over Welfare Concerns

The M20 motorway in Kent was temporarily closed in both directions during rush hour this morning due to concerns for a person’s welfare.

Authorities took action just before 6:30 am today, shutting down the motorway between junction two and three for the M26 interchange. Police and National Highways officers swiftly responded to the situation, closing both carriageways as they addressed the incident.

Following their intervention, the individual in question was safely passed into the care of health professionals. Subsequently, the carriageways have been reopened to traffic.

A spokesperson for Kent Police provided details, stating: “Kent Police was called at 6.29am on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, to concerns for the welfare of a person near the M20 between junctions 2 and 3. Patrols and highways officers attended the scene and both carriageways were closed while they responded to the incident. The person is now being passed into the care of health professionals and the carriageways have reopened.”
