More than 14,000 cyclists completed the iconic London to Brighton Bike Ride on Sunday, pedalling 54 miles in support of the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and other leading UK charities.
Riders departed from Clapham Common in London between 6:00am and 9:30am, making their way to the finish line on Madeira Drive in Brighton throughout the afternoon. The event, now in its 47th year, remains a pillar of the UK’s fundraising calendar, generating millions of pounds annually for research into heart and circulatory diseases.
Tackling the Famous Ditchling Beacon
The route’s defining challenge—Ditchling Beacon—tested riders with its gruelling one-mile incline near the South Downs, a symbolic climb for both seasoned cyclists and first-time participants.
“There’s a real sense of community,” said returning participant Rachel Moore. “It’s not a race—it’s about doing something meaningful together.”
Community Spirit and Charity Impact
Organised and supported by hundreds of volunteers, medical staff, and enthusiastic locals, the ride passed through Surrey and Sussex villages, drawing large crowds who cheered riders along the way.
Beyond the British Heart Foundation, the 2025 ride featured representation from a wide range of national charities, including:
-
Diabetes UK
-

-
