A fourth Iranian man has been arrested in London as part of an ongoing counter-terrorism investigation, following the earlier arrest of three other Iranian nationals during coordinated police raids.
The 31-year-old suspect was taken into custody at a residential address in north-west London on the morning of Friday, 9 May 2025, according to the Metropolitan Police.
His arrest comes days after three other Iranian men, aged 39, 44, and 55, were detained in the capital on Saturday, 3 May, as part of the same investigation, led by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command.
All four are currently being held under Section 27 of the National Security Act 2023, which permits detention in relation to threats to UK national security. Police confirmed that warrants of further detention have been granted for the first three suspects, allowing them to be held until Saturday, 17 May.
Separate Plot Linked to Israeli Embassy
In a separate but unconnected operation, five other Iranian nationals were arrested in Greater Manchester, London, and Swindon during raids last Saturday, over what police described as a “suspected plot to target a specific premises”.
The target was the Israeli embassy in London.
Police have emphasised that the two operations are not connected, although all nine suspects remain in police custody while counter-terrorism enquiries continue.
A Met Police spokesperson said:
“Our operations reflect our determination to prevent, detect and disrupt any threats to the UK’s national security.”
