Man Arrested After Car Hits Pedestrians During Liverpool FC Title Parade

LIVERPOOL, UK – A man has been arrested after a car reportedly mounted the pavement and struck several pedestrians during Liverpool FC’s title-winning parade on Monday evening (May 26).

The incident occurred just after 6pm on Water Street, near where thousands of football fans had gathered in Liverpool city centre to celebrate the club’s Premier League victory.

Emergency Response Ongoing

According to Merseyside Police, the car stopped at the scene and the driver — a male — has been detained. Emergency responders, including paramedics and police officers, were quickly deployed and are still present.

“We are currently dealing with reports of a road traffic collision in Liverpool city centre,” a police spokesperson said.

“We were contacted at just after 6pm today, Monday 26 May, following reports a car had been in collision with a number of pedestrians on Water Street.
The car stopped at the scene and a male has been detained.”

Multiple Injuries Reported

While specific numbers of injured individuals have not yet been confirmed, eyewitness accounts suggest multiple people received treatment at the scene, and stretchers were seen being wheeled through the crowd.

Photographs show a significant emergency service presence, with police cordons and medical teams assisting those affected.
