Littlehampton Man Acquitted of Sexual Assault Following Trial at Portsmouth Crown Court

A 21-year-old man from Littlehampton has been acquitted of sexual assault after a trial at Portsmouth Crown Court.

Gulahmad Oryakhail was charged after a teenage girl reported being sexually assaulted in the Maltravers Leisure Park area of Littlehampton on 25 October 2024. He was remanded in custody ahead of his trial.

At a hearing on Friday, 2 May, the jury found Mr. Oryakhail not guilty.

The teenage girl was supported throughout the investigation by specially trained officers.

Following the verdict, Detective Constable Frances Block said:

“I would like to commend the bravery of the girl for coming forward, reporting to police, and supporting the process through to its conclusion.
If you are a victim of sexual offending, please report it to us — we will listen, we will support you, and we will do everything we can to get you justice.”

Support services for victims of sexual offences are available online via police and specialist organisations.
