A 25-year-old man from West Yorkshire has been formally charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm after a recent shooting incident in Leeds. The accused, Patson Mafaune of Servia Drive, appeared before Leeds Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, facing charges related to the event which occurred last Thursday.
The incident, which took place on Burley Road around 5.10pm, involved a vehicle being damaged by gunfire. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported in the shooting. Following the incident, West Yorkshire Police launched an investigation which quickly led to the arrest and subsequent charges against Mafaune.
In connection with the same incident, another 25-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody. Additionally, a 23-year-old man was arrested on Thursday related to the firearms discharge; however, he has since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and have issued a public appeal for anyone with information to come forward. The local community has been urged to assist by contacting West Yorkshire Police with any details that could aid in the investigation.
