Latest Overnight Car Theft Adds to Fulwell, Sunderland Woes

Residents of Fulwell, Sunderland, have expressed growing concern after multiple incidents of attempted car thefts and break-ins over the past week. Many locals have taken to social media to warn others, reporting men trying to gain access to vehicles and private properties.

In the latest incident, which occurred on Lunedale Avenue, a man used a key-skimming device to unlock a car, even though the key was located inside the house. Key-skimming devices work by detecting signals from car keys, making it easier for criminals to gain access to vehicles without physically possessing the key.

This follows two reports of stolen cars from local residents last week, adding to the growing unease in the community. One victim shared CCTV footage online showing the man inside their car. Another resident also captured footage of the suspect seemingly testing signals for various cars in the area.

Northumbria Police are investigating the incident and urge anyone who recognises the suspect or has information to contact them on 101. Alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
