Landscaper’s Shock After Discovering Wartime Bomb in Dartford Garden

Landscapers experienced a shocking discovery today after uncovering a suspected World War II bomb while working in a garden on Kirby Road, Dartford.

The incident occurred around 9:18 am, prompting immediate evacuation and closure of Kirby Road and surrounding streets, including Hillhouse Road. Bomb disposal experts from the Ministry of Defence were swiftly called to the scene.

Bobby Moulson, owner of Abfab Landscapes, explained the startling moment: “We first discovered it as we were digging to start putting up a fence. Initially, I thought it was a tin bath or something until we brushed some soil off and saw its shape. After a quick online search, I realized it looked exactly like a WWII bomb.”

I informed the customer immediately, who then called the police. They arrived quickly, and we were all evacuated. It was shocking—I’ve never seen anything like this before.”

Kent Police confirmed the discovery and stated, “Officers attended the scene, established a cordon, and evacuated nearby residents. The Ministry of Defence bomb disposal team safely removed the ordnance, and residents returned home by around 4:15 pm.”

All roads previously closed due to the incident have since reopened.
