Katy Bourne Continues at the Helm of Sussex Police

In a decisive electoral victory, Katy Bourne has secured her fourth term as the Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner. The Conservative Party member, who has held the position since 2012, emerged victorious with a total of 122,495 votes.

Her closest competitor, Paul Richards from the Labour and Co-operative Party, received 99,502 votes, followed by Jamie Bennett of the Liberal Democrats with 48,923, and Jonathan Kent of the Green Party, who garnered 43,105 votes.

The election saw a turnout of 24.49 per cent, reflecting moderate voter engagement in the region. In her victory statement, Bourne expressed her gratitude and outlined her vision for the future of policing in Sussex. “I am humbled and grateful to have the continued support of Sussex residents and I promise to provide more visible and accessible local policing to drive down crime,” she said. “We have seen some tremendous improvements in many areas and over the next four years, I want to see Sussex Police’s performance going up across the board.”

Bourne also took the opportunity to thank the police officers and staff whose efforts keep the community safe. “I would like to thank all police officers and staff who continue to keep our streets and towns safe and in particular, I look forward to meeting some of the dozens of recruits who have just been deployed across our county,” she added.
