India-Pakistan Conflict Escalates: Missiles Fired at Over 25 Military Sites

Tensions between India and Pakistan reached a critical point overnight as Pakistan launched a barrage of missiles at more than 25 Indian military sites, prompting global concern and emergency mediation efforts.

The escalation follows India’s earlier airstrikes on Pakistani airbases, in what it described as retaliation for a deadly terrorist attack last month that killed 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen. India has blamed the Pakistan-based group Lashkar-e-Taiba for the attack.

Missile Exchanges and Civilian Casualties

Indian authorities reported intercepting several missiles but confirmed five civilian deaths in the Jammu region of Indian-administered Kashmir. India has labeled Pakistan’s actions a “blatant escalation.”

In response, Pakistan’s military claimed the attacks were limited to strategic targets, asserting they were in retaliation and not intended to escalate further. “If India stops here, we will consider our response sufficient,” a Pakistani military official told Reuters.

Social Media Videos Emerge from Strike Zones

UKNIP has verified social media posts showing armed men and children in militant training videos filmed at Markaz Taiba Mosque in Muridke, a location targeted in Indian strikes. The mosque is reportedly linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, a group with historical ties to al Qaeda.

Some of the TikTok and YouTube posts showed men carrying firearms in the streets, while others featured children performing martial arts, referring to themselves as “little soldiers.”

Kashmir Remains Flashpoint

The heavily militarized Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir has been at the center of the current conflict, with both nations exchanging fire and missile strikes. Analysts warn of the potential for miscalculation.
