This revelation highlights the ongoing tensions between Israel and Hamas, as well as the plight of those held captive by the militant group.
In a separate development, more than 200 members of Hamas have been detained in the West Bank since October 7, according to an Israeli military spokesman. These arrests come in response to escalating violence and attacks carried out by Hamas militants.
Tragically, the death toll of French citizens from a recent Hamas attack in Israel has risen to 19, as confirmed by French foreign minister Catherine Colonna during her visit to Tel Aviv. It also recognises Israel’s right to defend itself in line with international law, while urging the release of all hostages and the protection of civilians in Gaza.
Furthermore, a group of US Senators, including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, held a news conference in Tel Aviv after meetings with top Israeli officials and victims’ families. The senators emphasised that there is no equivalency between the actions of Hamas and Israel, with Senator Mitt Romney highlighting Hamas’ use of civilians as human shields.
