Isle of Wight cinema goers evacuated after faulty alarm system

Cinema-goers were evacuated from their screenings in tonight in Newport on the Isle of Wight after a fault with the fire alarm system set off the alarm. Cineworld and nearby restaurant were temporarily evacuated after the alarm started to sound just after 8.20pm on Tuesday evening. The staff made a complete search of the cinema, firefighters were told to stand down at 8.30pm. A spokesman for Cineworld said it is thought to be a fault with the fire alarm system.
