Investigation Underway After Altercation At Rye Lane Cosmetics Store

An investigation has been launched by officers from the Central South Command following the circulation of a video depicting an altercation that occurred at a cosmetics store on Rye Lane London. The incident took place on Monday, September 11, and authorities are actively working to uncover the complete details surrounding the altercation.

After conducting initial inquiries, a 45-year-old man was interviewed under caution on Wednesday, September 13. Simultaneously, a 31-year-old woman, who had been arrested on Tuesday, September 12, has since been released on bail pending further investigation.

Detective Chief Superintendent Seb Adjei-Addoh, the local policing commander for Southwark, expressed his gratitude to the local community for their patience and cooperation during this ongoing investigation. He stated, “I would like to thank local people for their patience as we work to establish the full circumstances around the allegations made. We continue to examine various clips of footage that depict small sections of the wider incident and are working to establish what offences were committed and by whom.”

In response to the incident, Adjei-Addoh assured the community that officers would be patrolling Rye Lane to provide reassurance and address any concerns. He encouraged anyone who might be worried or who witnessed the incident but has not yet spoken to the police to come forward and assist in the investigation.

“My officers will be patrolling Rye Lane today to provide reassurance to the community – I know that this incident will cause concern and I urge anyone who is worried to speak with their local policing team or with officers on patrol,” Adjei-Addoh added.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information related to the incident is urged to contact the police at 101, quoting CAD 3943/11Sep.
