Ilford Stabbing Victim Named as Gurjeet Singh as Family Pays Heartbreaking Tribute
Overview
The family of a man fatally stabbed in Ilford has paid tribute to their “well-loved” son, describing him as someone with a “remarkable ability to connect with everyone he met.”
Gurjeet Singh, known affectionately as Gary, was just 30 years old when he was killed at a residential address on Felbrigge Road in Ilford on Wednesday, 23 July.
In a touching tribute issued through the Metropolitan Police, Gary’s family said:
“Gary was a well-loved man who had a remarkable ability to connect with everyone he met. A true social butterfly, nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by his family.
Gary will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in our hearts forever.”
Emergency Services Called to Altercation
Met Police officers were called to the scene by the London Ambulance Service at approximately 11:20am following reports of an altercation. Gary was found suffering from multiple stab wounds, and despite the best efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
One Man Charged With Murder
Amardeep Singh, 27, of Redbridge, IG3, was arrested on the day of the incident and has since been charged with murder. He remains in custody and is due to appear for trial at the Old Bailey on Monday, 5 January 2026.
Four Others Arrested and Released on Bail
Detectives also arrested a 29-year-old man and three women, aged 29, 30, and 54, on suspicion of assisting an offender. They have been bailed until October 2025 while enquiries continue.
The Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command is leading the investigation.
