A massive garden fire ripped through Bayly Road, Dartford, sending flames soaring high and filling the air with thick smoke. Thankfully, the blaze has now been put out, but it caused widespread alarm among locals.
Flames Tower 40 Feet High
Eyewitnesses described seeing flames towering at least 40 feet, with embers scattering everywhere. Paul Styles, who spotted the fire from his dining room, called it “horrific” and added:
“Saw that from our dining room, it looked horrific, flames at least 40 foot high and embers everywhere.”
Roads Blocked and Emergency Warnings Issued
The fire broke out in a back garden on Bow Arrow Lane, sparking a road closure at both Bayly Road and St. Vincent’s. Police have urged residents to stay indoors due to the danger posed by gas canisters and asbestos in the area.
Local Mandy Butler shared vital details, saying:
“It was in a back garden on Bow Arrow Lane. The road is blocked off at Bayly Road and St. Vincent’s. Police are asking everyone to stay indoors due to a danger of gas canisters and Asbestos.”
Fire Brigade Responds Quickly; Cause Linked to Fireworks
Firefighters rushed to the scene and have successfully brought the fire under control. According to eyewitness Nicola Dines, the fire was caused by a firework:
“It was caused by a firework.”
Many locals voiced relief as the fire was extinguished, hoping everyone involved is safe. Esther Bryan said:
“That’s a relief as I called The Fire Brigade not realising one was already called it looked bad too. I hope everyone is ok.”
Meanwhile, smoke was reported as far as Wilmington and the Fleet estate, highlighting the fire’s intensity.
