Health and Safety Prosecution in Wake of Fatal Crane Collapse in Crewe – UKNIP

Falcon Tower Crane Services Limited is facing prosecution by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) following a tragic incident in Crewe, Cheshire, where a crane collapse claimed the lives of three men. Rhys Barker, 18, from Castleford, David Newall, 36, from Bradford, and David Webb, 43, from Northampton lost their lives on June 21, 2017, at a construction site on Dunwoody Way.

The HSE has accused Falcon Tower Crane Services Limited of breaching Section 2(1) and Section 3(1) of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. The charges come after a thorough and intricate investigation conducted by the HSE, reflecting the gravity of the situation and the commitment to ensuring accountability for workplace safety.

The incident sent shockwaves through the community, prompting a comprehensive examination of the circumstances leading to the crane collapse.

A Plea and Trial Preparation Hearing has been scheduled at Chester Crown Court on October 6, 2023
