Hastings Rnli Volunteer Pays His Respects To The Queen

Hastings long serving RNLI Volunteer Glenn Barry made the trip to London this weekend to to pay his respects to Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen has been Patron of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. It’s a role that’s been held by every reigning British monarch since King George IV in the 1820s. And it’s an important role, giving credibility and support to the lifesaving charity.

After a long 13 hour queue Glenn made it in to Westminster Hall where he paid his respects and the timing was perfect as the Queens Children where once again stood vigil over their mother’s coffin while members of the public looked on.

He said “Yesterday was such a honour representing the RNLI the public were so supportive towards the RNLI . After 13 hours it was amazing to see the royals.

Glenn has ben an integral member of Hastings RNLI lifeboat crew for over 30 years he is a member of the All Weather lifeboat Crew and a a qualified Helmsman on the Inshore Lifeboat.
