Hampshire Police Specials attended a large car meet last night, spread across various locations throughout the county. The event, which attracted numerous car enthusiasts, saw some attendees committing various driving offences, according to a statement released by the Hampshire Specials.
Officers on the ground and aerial units were deployed to monitor the meet, and evidence of the offences was captured from both the air and officers on-site. As a result, a number of Notice of Intended Prosecutions (NIPs) will be sent out to those identified as having breached traffic laws.
Hampshire Police did not specify the exact offences but warned that these gatherings are under increased scrutiny due to concerns about public safety and dangerous driving. The use of aerial surveillance is part of a growing effort to prevent reckless driving at car meets, which have previously led to serious accidents in the region.
Safety is our top priority,” a spokesperson for Hampshire Police stated. While we understand the passion for cars, driving offences put everyone at risk, and we will continue to take action against anyone breaking the law.
This is not the first time police have targeted large car meets in Hampshire. Authorities have been stepping up enforcement at these events as part of a wider crackdown on illegal driving behaviour in the area. Notices of intended prosecutions will be sent to the offenders in the coming days, with penalties likely to follow.
Members of the public who have information about driving offences at last night’s meet are encouraged to contact the police by calling 101.
