A man who died following a stabbing inside a Lloyd’s Bank branch in Derby city centre has been formally named as Gurvinder Johal.

Emergency services were called to the Lloyd’s branch on St Peter’s Street at around 2.35pm on Tuesday, 6 May. Despite their efforts, 37-year-old Mr Johal was pronounced dead at the scene.

Derbyshire Police confirmed that Mr Johal’s family has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. The family has requested privacy as they grieve their loss.

Two men were arrested yesterday in connection with the fatal incident. A man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of murder, while another man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Both remain in police custody as enquiries continue.

The investigation is ongoing, and police have appealed for anyone with information or footage from the area at the time of the incident to come forward.
