Tributes Paid to Gloucestershire Police Officer Ian Minett Following ‘Unexplained’ Death on Duty
Tributes have been pouring in for a respected Gloucestershire police officer who tragically died while on duty on Saturday morning.
PC Ian Minett, a well-known and much-liked officer within Gloucestershire Constabulary, died during the course of his shift on Saturday, 21 June. His death is being treated as unexplained but non-suspicious, and the Coroner has been informed.
In an emotional statement, Adam Williams, chairman of Gloucestershire Police Federation, said:
“I was lucky enough to work with Ian. He was well liked amongst all who had the pleasure of working alongside him and getting to know him. It is a massive loss to the shift, the station, and to the Constabulary as a whole.”
A spokesperson for the force confirmed the tragic development:
“Gloucestershire Constabulary is saddened to report the death of PC Ian Minett whilst on duty this morning (Saturday 21 June). PC Minett’s death is being treated as unexplained but non-suspicious and the Coroner has been informed.”
“We extend our thoughts and prayers to PC Minett’s family, friends and colleagues, and we ask that his family are given privacy at this difficult time.”
PC Minett’s passing has deeply affected colleagues, many of whom described him as “professional, compassionate, and a pillar of support within the force.”

Local residents have also expressed their condolences on social media, describing the officer as someone who “always went the extra mile” and “cared about the people he served.”
