Georgie Glen, known for her role as Millicent Higgins in the beloved BBC series “Call The Midwife,” has opened up about how a poignant storyline in the show resonates with her own personal experiences, particularly her memories of her late mother.

As the 67-year-old actor prepares for the series finale, she hinted at a significant revelation about her character, Miss Higgins, which will unfold with the arrival of a “mysterious figure,” prompting her to confront a profound secret.

Reflecting on her character’s depth and complexity, Glen drew parallels between Miss Higgins and her mother, recalling a moment from her past that mirrored the emotional weight of the storyline. In an interview with The Express, she shared a poignant anecdote about her mother revealing a piece of her own past during a tense moment in Glen’s life, prompting her to recognize the significance of uncovering buried truths.

Glen remarked, “What’s lovely about the character is she’s not just two-dimensional, there is a whole person there with a past – and I often liken her to my mother, actually, who lived in that sort of age at that time.”

She continued, “And the funny thing is, I remember her coming out with something about her past when I was in my 20s. My father had had a stroke and was in the hospital, and it was that first night when you’re all slightly electrified and you’re waiting to hear what’s happening, and you speak in a very unguarded way.”

Expressing regret over not fully engaging with her mother’s disclosure at the time, Glen acknowledged the depth of emotions stirred by the experience, recognizing the universal tendency to bury painful memories.

As viewers await the series finale, Glen teased the heartfelt narrative awaiting Miss Higgins, expressing her excitement for the storyline and her on-screen dynamic with co-star Linda, who plays Trixie Franklin.

With the final episode of “Call The Midwife” set to air on March 10, fans can anticipate an emotional and unforgettable conclusion to the beloved series, enriched by the depth and authenticity of Glen’s portrayal of Miss Higgins.
