A driver who filmed himself performing dangerous stunts and speeding around the Isle of Sheppey has been jailed for 15 months, after police uncovered incriminating footage during a fatal crash investigation.
George Ivers, 22, formerly of Minster-on-Sea, was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on 16 June 2025 after admitting multiple dangerous driving offences and perverting the course of justice.

Footage Uncovered During Cyclist Death Investigation
The case came to light after a 19-year-old cyclist was killed in a crash on Lower Road, Teynham, in the early hours of 2 May 2022. The cyclist, a local man, died at the scene after sustaining catastrophic injuries.
While Ivers was not charged directly in relation to the fatal collision, Kent Police linked him to the crash through forensic work and vehicle identification.
Investigators discovered Ivers had abandoned the damaged VW Polo used in the collision, after removing documents linking him to the car.

‘Doughnuts’ and Speeding in Sheerness
A search of Ivers’ phone uncovered videos filmed in late 2021 and early 2022, showing him driving at high speeds and performing “doughnut” manoeuvres near the Sheppey Crossing and through the centre of Sheerness.
The footage, described by officers as reckless and dangerous, led to additional charges unrelated to the fatal crash.
Sentencing and Driving Ban
Ivers pleaded guilty to:
- Two counts of dangerous driving (relating to the footage)
- Perverting the course of justice (following the collision)
He was sentenced to one year and three months in prison and given a three-year driving ban. A deprivation order was also granted, allowing police to seize the vehicle involved.
Police Warning to Reckless Drivers
Sergeant Christopher Oliver-Jones, from Kent Police, said:
“Ivers made multiple efforts to mislead and prevent the police from obtaining the evidence they required to fully investigate the fatal road traffic collision.
The footage on his phone showed he had a blatant disregard for road safety.”
“We will continue to seek court orders where vehicles have been driven recklessly. I urge all motorists to take responsibility and help us prevent further tragedies.”
