Emergency services have been scrambled to London Heathrow Airport this afternoon after a full aircraft emergency was declared involving an A319 Airbus.
The incident was reported just before 5PM when the aircraft issued a Mayday call citing critical problems with landing gear, hydraulics, and fuel systems. The emergency response is being coordinated from the Northern Perimeter Road , with multiple fire units from the London Fire brigade called in to support HAL fire service.
Emergency Landing Underway
The A319 successfully conducted an emergency landing at Heathrow following swift action from air traffic control and emergency teams. Fire crews, paramedics, and airport operations teams were positioned at strategic points across the airfield as a precaution.
As per initial reports, there have been no injuries among passengers or crew members. The aircraft is currently being inspected by aviation safety officials.
Disruption Expected
Although the emergency was swiftly managed, some flight delays and cancellations are anticipated as a result of the incident. Heathrow Airport has advised travelers to:
-
Check the status of their flights before heading to the airport
-
Allow extra travel time due to potential congestion around Northern Perimeter Road
An official investigation will be launched to determine the cause of the aircraft’s hydraulic and landing gear failure.
